Astanga yoga instructor, Paul Frechtling
Paul
has been practising the Astanga method for more than 15 years. He has been authorised
to teach Astanga Yoga and leads with care and gentleness to slowly cultivate deeper awareness.
Paul has studied Anatomy and Physiology for greater body awareness, Pranayama (breathing techniques) and Meditation.
He has worked with people with injuries and illnesses and has found yoga to be most beneficial.
In Paul's own words
My
first yoga
class was such a buzz! It gave me the
feeling that this was right and would give me a strong foundation for whatever I did in the future.
Ashtanga yoga was a
natural progression of that first class. The combination of breath and movement to work and cleanse the body and remove the
clutter from my mind was definitely what I needed.
It also helped me see that there were other possibilities and opportunities
and gave me the confidence to take those challenges.
I have been privileged to study with the guidance of Sri k
Pattabhi Jois and Sharath in Mysore, India. These
were amazing experiences with such talented teachers that I decided I wanted to practise and teach what I had learned.
I thank Pattabhi for
passing on his teachings in the hope that I have been able to bring new awareness into other people's lives as well.
The challenge
of Ashtanga is to maintain a regular practice. For those who do I have seen their lives rewarded.
