The timeless romance of history
Historic Balmoral House is a stately Victorian mansion
a few minutes walk from Katoomba.
This heritage-listed property built in 1876 is the oldest guesthouse in
the Blue Mountains.
Set
in an acre of manicured gardens and comprising a ten-bedroom boutique
hotel with licensed bar and restaurant, Balmoral House is a shining
example of the indulgent style of a bygone era. Yet with many of the conveniences of our modern lifestyles.
Favoured as a venue for weddings and receptions, Balmoral House
is also popular for conferences, lectures, parties and
celebrations and other special occasions. The fully-licensed restaurant caters
for 25 to 120 people in cocktail party or seated settings.
Whether a breakfast briefing or business lunch, a la
carte dinner or cocktail
party reception, morning
or afternoon tea, Balmoral House offers inspiring surroundings and amenities to
impress and entertain friends and clients.
The
public rooms downstairs - traditional parlour, dining room, bar, sitting
room and entrance hall - are painted in traditional late-Victorian
colours and the walls are adorned with a curious mixture of colour and monochrome photographs, framed watercolours, oils
and printed posters; winged cherubs perch on the ornate mirrors.
All guest rooms are upstairs and feature antique brass
beds, lace curtains and stylish decor. Most rooms open onto the large wrap-around verandah which
overlooks the spacious gardens.
Owners Glenn and Mel and
their attentive staff ensure guests’ enjoyment and help maintain Balmoral House's high standards.
