Balmoral House is owner-managed by two talented and hard working professionals supported by a team of local people.
Glenn Barker manages the front-of-house operations, greeting guests and ensuring every event runs
smoothly and successfully.
His background in business management combines with over 20 years' of specialiast events
management gives him the edge
in the highly competitive field of weddings and parties. Yet it is his personal style, friendliness and generosity that keep
people returning over and again.
Mel
McKennay is
in charge of the kitchens, where he prepares delicious and nutritious food for parties and functions,
as well as for the inhouse restaurant.
Appointed Sous Chef to Hans Schumi in the Banquets kitchen at the King's Ambassador Hotel the day of his graduation in
1985, Mel has worked hard ever since.
He and Glenn met in 1989 and together they toured Australia offering their unique blend of excellent food and friendly
hospitality to hotels, motels, retaurants and cafes in Perth, Darwin and Brisbane. They eventually settled in Penrith at
Cafe Melsom, the place that started "cafe society" in the local area.
Team support
Additional local staff are called in as required for housekeeping and kitchen duties as well as waitpeople
for functions and parties. Balmoral House is a Equal Opportunities employer and regularly engages the services of disabled
